Handwritten prescription on headed notepaper ("Leagarth, Fetlar, Shetland N[orth].B[ritain]."), written by Sir William Watson Cheyne. The prescription was filled by "A.L. Laing Chemist Lerwick". It reads B. Acid Salscylic(?) XV Acid Benzoin XX Glycerine 3(?)11 Alcohol 60% ad(?) 3(?)1. To be used to paint the tongue at night. WWC."

This prescription was written by Sir William Watson Cheyne for Christian (Chrissie) Anderson (later Saunders) when she was a baby in Fetlar. "Sir Watson" as he was known in Fetlar, was one of the most prominent British surgeons of the Victorian era, serving as assistant and successor to Lord Lister in the pioneering development of antiseptic surgery.
